"Prayer Flags"

This is the first felting project I ever created. I mean I took a couple of textile courses during art school, but never created a felted fabric. As the world was breaking free of our COVID comas, a friend of mine put together a class on wet felting at her sister's art gallery/shop. In this class, we learned to layout different types of fiber and how to create an artful felted fabric through wet felting. Once our pieces dried, we could use that fabric to create whatever we wanted. I chose to cut my piece into 6 smaller pieces, hand embelish each with embroidery, charms, and beads and them hang them on twine to create a banner of prayer flags. My sister had recently passed away from cancer and I stitched a few of her charms onto some of the pieces. I'd like to think that my sister is always looking down on me and keeping a watchful eye.
